  • NUMINO reveals the breadth of Walz’s creativity, with McNeil’s words captured in custom typefaces and applied to soap blocks, spray-painted on walls, stenciled, embroidered onto a silk sheet, carved in wood, engraved on cork blocks, laser-etched into lumasite, and reflected in three mirrors.

  • Other Islands Book Fair serves as a catalyst for community building, particularly among groups that often operate outside of the mainstream commercial publishing sector. The event offers a fertile ground for establishing new partnerships, fostering collaborations, and thereby strengthening the social fabric of these communities of practice. It serves as a significant space in which the worlds of publishing, bookmaking, scholarship and socio-cultural conversations come together. It elevates experimental and underrepresented narratives, contributing to the broader cultural and intellectual landscape of New York City. The following was a submission to their 2026 “Open Call”.

Don’t F**k with Dosas is a tasty and delicious zine that tells you to respect dosas.

  • For the Love of Plastic is a zine that dives into consumerism and our love-hate relationship with plastic, inspired by Radiohead’s Fake Plastic Trees. Edited video stills mimic aged, layered plastic waste, with yellow tints and flipped borders to show the endless cycle of disposables. Housed in a CD case, it also features text from a HuffPost interview on how post-war ads got us hooked on single-use plastics.

  • What is Happening explores the world on both micro and macro levels. Prompt sheets were passed around, and the collected responses were collaged into a poster to capture the thoughts and emotions of surrounding communities.

  • OverProtection explores tsundoku, the Japanese term for buying books and letting them pile up unread, often in an effort not to ‘spoil’ them. It questions the impulse to protect objects we never use, asking: Did I spoil it while trying to protect it? The book’s text plays with this tension, blurring the line between preservation and damage, beauty and neglect.

  • Ameranico is an experimental, low contrast, single stroke, no overlap font.

  • F**k off Stamps explored type as a visual element rather than something purely legible. Inspired by container technologies and stencils; their history and uses. It focuses on the idea that it’s not what you say, but how you say it.

  • Akan Brewing Co. is a brewery in Hyderabad with a Meso-American/Mayan theme. The project involved creating a custom system of symbols inspired by actual hieroglyphics — a challenging process that required extensive research into how the Mayans used symbols to form words and sentences. The final set of hieroglyphs was designed to merge seamlessly, carrying the brand’s meaning: being in the presence of, or indulging under, Akan.
